Women's Basketball Defeated by Fisher, 61-48

FRANKLIN, Mass. – December 6, 2023 – The Dean College women's basketball team was defeated by Fisher, 61-48, in non-conference action Wednesday night.  

Dean (1-7) will conclude first-semester action with a conference game at Albertus Magnus on Saturday with a 1 p.m. tip. Fisher (1-11) plays at UMaine-Presque Isle on Saturday at 5 p.m.

First-year Kendrah Doane (New Salem, Mass.) and sophomore Carly Rettberg (Haddam, Conn.) each scored 13 points to lead the Bulldogs. Senior Cat Thomas (Woodbridge, Conn.) also reached double figures with 12 points to go with a team-high seven rebounds.

First-year Olivia Hamel (Estes Park, Colo.) recorded a triple-double with 24 points, 19 rebounds and 10 blocks. Junior Ariana Ramos-Cardona (Isabela, Puerto Rico) finished with 15 points and six assists. Senior Ladaeja Robinson (Boston, Mass.) recorded 13 points, eight rebounds, four steals and three assists.

1st Quarter
  • Hamel had 10 points and seven rebounds for Fisher as the Falcons led 14-6 after the first quarter.
  • Thomas and Rettberg each had three points for the Bulldogs.
  • Fisher used seven offensive rebounds to score eight second chance points.
2nd Quarter
  • Fisher added to its lead with a 16-7 margin on the scoreboard in the second.
  • The Falcons scored eight points off five Dean miscues.
3rd Quarter
  • The third frame was closely played with Dean holding an advantage for much of the action until Fisher scored a couple of late buckets to win the segment 13-10.
  • Four Bulldogs each had a basket in the quarter.
4th Quarter
  • Dean chipped away at the 43-23 deficit, after three quarters, by making 16-of-18 free throw attempts.
  • The Bulldogs outscored Fisher 25-18.
  • Doane scored eight points, while Rettberg added seven.
  • Dean turned six Fisher turnovers into seven points.
  • Hamel tallied five blocks in the final stanza to complete the triple-double.
