Men's Basketball Falls to Bridgewater State, 99-75

FRANKLIN, Mass. – December 6, 2023 – The Dean College men's basketball team dropped a non-conference game to Bridgewater State, 99-75, inside Pieri Gymnasium Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs (5-4) travel to conference foe Albertus Magnus on Saturday for a 3 p.m. tip to conclude first semester action. Bridgewater State (3-5) wraps up a 5-game road trip on Saturday with a 2 p.m. game at Wesleyan.

Senior AJ Weston (Kansas City, Mo.) led the Bulldogs with 21 points. Junior Tommy Huynh (Albuquerque, N.M.) finished with 15 points and five assists in his first start. Senior Charles Walker (Princeton, N.C.) added 14 points.

Freshman Josh Campbell (Plymouth, Mass.) posted a game best 24 points on 11-16 shooting for the Bears. Sophomore Dante Kikuba (Framingham, Mass.) was next on the team with 20 points to go with seven rebounds, six assists and four steals. Graduate Emerson Halbleib (Carmel, Ind.) filled the stat sheet with 11 assists, six points and six rebounds. Freshman Zach Taylor (Quincy, Mass.) and senior Justin Parsons (Portsmouth, R.I.) added 12 points apiece.

The Bears pushed the pace in the first half and shot 61% from the floor and 50% from beyond the arc to lead 59-30 at the break. Campbell scored 22 points on 10-14 shooting, while Kikuba made all five of his attempts for 15 points. The Bulldogs received 12 points from Weston. BSU also had a 30-15 advantage in rebounding and scored 36 points in the paint.

The visitors held a comfortable lead throughout the second half despite Dean shooting 54.8%.

The Bears finished the game with a 53-32 margin on the glass and a 60-38 discrepancy in points in the paint.
