Women's Basketball Drops Road Game at Fitchburg State

FITCHBURG, Mass. – November 28, 2023 – The Dean College women's basketball team lost a non-conference road game to Fitchburg State on Tuesday night, 67-40.

Dean (1-5) will begin conference action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. home game against Regis. Fitchburg State (2-4) travels to Mount Holyoke on Thursday for a 6 p.m. tip.

First-year Abi Boutin (Rocky Hill, Conn.) led the Bulldogs with a career-high 11 points. First-year Makayla Swan (Middlebury, Vt.) finished with eight points, while first-year Kendrah Doane (New Salem, Mass.) recorded seven points, six rebounds and four assists.

The Falcons were led by Rylie Harlow's 13 points and Aliza Som's 10 points.

1st Quarter
  • Fitchburg State held a slim 10-8 lead midway through the quarter but finished on a 10-1 run to lead 20-9 after 10 minutes.
  • Swan went 3-4 for six points to lead Dean.
  • Som had 10 points for the Falcons.
2nd Quarter
  • The Falcons outscored Dean 19-11 to lead 39-20 at the half.
  • Boutin led the Bulldogs with eight first half points.
  • The home team shot 47.4%, while Dean made 29.6% of its attempts.
  • Each team made a pair of three-pointers in the half.
3rd Quarter
  • Dean went 4-4 from the free throw line.
  • Junior Tori Viau (Johnston, R.I.) scored four of the Bulldogs' 10 points in the frame.
  • Fitchburg State finished the quarter with 16 points. The team made three long balls, including a pair from Harlow.
4th Quarter
  • The Falcons edged Dean 12-10 on the scoreboard.
  • The Bulldogs received three points apiece from Doane and Boutin.
