FRANKLIN, Mass. – November 14, 2023 – The Dean College men's basketball team defeated Lesley, 80-70, in a home opener for the Bulldogs inside Pieri Gymnasium on Tuesday night.
Dean converted 23-of-25 free throw attempts in the game.
The Bulldogs (2-0) host Rhode Island College on Friday at 6 p.m. Lesley drops to 1-2 on the season.
Senior
AJ Weston (Kansas City, Mo.) led all players with 24 points. He was perfect from the free throw line, making all 14 attempts. Junior
Tyler Newsom (Pendleton, Ore.) did not miss a field goal try as he went 7-for-7 for 15 points and seven boards. Senior
Jayden Madise (Palmdale, Calif.) scored 14 points, while senior
Charles Walker (Princeton, N.C.) also reached double figures with 10 points. Junior
Ja'maine Davenport (Mays Landing, N.J.) led the Dean rebounders with eight.
Lesley was paced by Malachi Howard. He poured in 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Christian Castro added 16 points on 6-8 shooting, while Tarell Joseph contributed 15 points and five assists.
The Bulldogs shot 45% from the floor, while Lesley made 42.4% of their attempts. The Lynx had a big advantage in made three-pointers (8-3), but Dean made up the discrepancy at the free throw line.
