FRANKLIN, Mass. – November 17, 2023 – The Dean College men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season on Friday night with a 74-65 defeat to Rhode Island College (RIC).  

The Bulldogs (2-1) travel to Fitchburg State on Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip. RIC improves to 4-1.

Senior AJ Weston (Kansas City, Mo.) led four Bulldogs in double figures with 18 points. Senior Jayden Madise (Palmdale, Calif.) posted a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Tyler Newsom (Pendleton, Ore.) registered 13 points and eight boards, while senior Charles Walker (Princeton, N.C.) added 10 points.

RIC received 17 points and 17 rebounds from senior forward Ousmane Kourouma (Woonsocket, R.I.). Sophomore Isaiah Dahl (Cornelius, Ore.) made five three-pointers and finished with a game best 19 points. Junior Isiah McCallam (Orange, N.J.) went 6-of-9 for 14 points.

The Anchormen had a 52-45 edge in rebounding and turned 27 offensive boards into 26 second chance points.

The visitors led 33-25 after 20 minutes. Kourouma had 10 points and nine boards to pace RIC. Weston led Dean with eight points. The Anchormen made five long balls, while Dean connected on a pair.
