Bulldogs Earn 44-38 Win at Mount Holyoke

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – November 11, 2023 – The Dean College women's basketball team earned their first win of the season with a 44-38 road triumph at Mount Holyoke.  

Dean (1-1) continues a 4-game road trip on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. tip at Wentworth. Mount Holyoke (0-2) will host New England College on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Junior Tori Viau (Johnston, R.I.) finished with game-highs of 17 points and eight rebounds. She was 15-of-16 from the free throw line. First-year Abi Boutin (Rocky Hill, Conn.) also reached double figures with 10 points. Senior Cat Thomas (Woodbridge, Conn.) registered six points and seven rebounds, while first-year Kendrah Doane (New Salem, Mass.) also grabbed seven boards to go with five points.

Dean made 24 of 35 free throws in the game.

Junior Marley Berano (Lady Lake, Fla.) was the lone Mount Holyoke player in double figures with 14.  

1st Quarter
  • Dean led 15-11 after the first frame.
  • Viau and Thomas each had four points to lead Dean.
  • White and Maurer led the Lyons with four points apiece.
2nd Quarter
  • Mount Holyoke had a 7-6 edge in scoring in the second quarter.
  • The Bulldogs went 12-of-15 from the free throw line in the first half.
  • Dean took a 21-18 lead into the halftime break.
3rd Quarter
  • The home team outscored Dean 15-12 in the third to tie the game at 33-33.
  • Boutin poured in seven points for Dean, while Viau made five more free throws.
  • Berano scored 10 of the Lyons' 15 points.

4th Quarter
  • Dean had an 11-5 advantage on the scoreboard in the fourth.
  • Viau led all players with six points in the quarter.
  • Doane converted two free throws with 11 seconds left to secure the victory.
