NEW HAVEN, Conn. – October 24, 2023 – The Dean College men's soccer team dropped its regular season finale at Albertus Magnus, 3-1, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Tuesday night.
Despite the loss, the Bulldogs (9-4-3, 7-4-3 GNAC) secured the program's first GNAC postseason appearance since joining the league. Dean earned the sixth seed and will travel to the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Saturday.
Albertus Magnus (10-2-5, 8-2-4 GNAC) earned the fourth seed in the postseason tournament and will host a quarterfinal match on Saturday.
The Falcons took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute when Eduardo Chavez finished a pass from Roger Baldwin.

Sean Doherty (Chelmsford, Mass.) took a shot, while surrounded by multiple Albertus Magnus defenders, that snuck inside the left post for his fourth goal of the season.
In the early moments of the second half, Chavez broke towards the end line and sent a pass back to the top of the 6-yard box where Ben Pierce beat the keeper to the left side of the goal for the 2-1 Falcons lead.
Albertus Magnus added a third goal in the 62nd minute when Kris Bocchio sent a corner kick into the box where Colby Nardelli leapt above everyone to head the ball into the back of the net.
The Bulldogs had a couple of other great chances in the half but hit a post and a crossbar.
Alberto Gonzalez Del Rio (Madrid, Spain) finished with seven saves for Dean. David Lucero had five stops to earn the win for the Falcons.
