FRANKLIN, Mass. – October 20, 2023 – The Dean College women's soccer team tied Saint Joseph's (ME), 1-1, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest during homecoming weekend.

The Bulldogs (4-9-3, 3-8-3 GNAC) host Regis on Tuesday at 3 p.m. for a regular season finale. Saint Joseph's (6-6-4, 6-4-4 GNAC) will conclude the regular season at Saint Joseph (CT) on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

In the 20th minute, the Bulldogs were awarded a penalty kick after a foul by a Monks player in the box. Junior Jazlyn Estrella (Coventry, R.I.) approached the spot and struck the ball into the left side of the net past the diving keeper for her first collegiate tally.

The Monks knotted the score at 1-1 in the 38th minute when sophomore Lelia Weir (Bar Harbor, Maine) took a free kick from 25 yards out that deflected off the Dean goalie.

Dean junior goalie Haley Gaunt (Johnston, R.I.) played the first half and allowed one goal with five saves for the Bulldogs. Sophomore Lexi Gerow (Pownal, Vt.) kept the match tied with 11 saves in the second half.  Senior Carly Downey (Yarmouth, Maine) had three saves and one goal allowed for the Monks.

Saint Joseph's ended the contest with a 26-8 advantage in shots and a 5-2 margin in corner kicks.
