FRANKLIN, Mass. – October 24, 2023 – The Dean College women's soccer team dropped its Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) regular season finale to Regis, 4-2, on a pleasant fall day at Grant Field.
The Bulldogs end the 2023 campaign with a 4-10-3 overall record and a 3-9-3 mark in the conference. Regis (9-4-4, 8-3-4 GNAC) has earned a spot in the GNAC postseason and will await the seeding announcement at the conclusion of play this evening.
After a back and forth opening 20 minutes of action, the Pride broke the tie with a nice goal in the 25th minute. First-year Colleen Curran (Woburn, Mass.) was on the left flank when she sent a bending ball into the box. First-year Reese Hatin (Hooksett, N.H.) was there and headed home her first collegiate goal for the 1-0 Regis lead.
The Pride lead doubled in the 39th minute when senior Payton Bridge (Norton, Mass.) successfully converted a penalty kick for her third tally of the season.
Regis took a 3-0 lead with less than five minutes to play by connecting a couple of passes leading to a chance. First-year Delaney Scanlon (Dracut, Mass.) was on the receiving end of the final pass from first-year Avary Hall (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.). Hall had received a pass from first-year Erin Flaherty (Ashland, Mass.) down the right side of the field before finding Scanlon with a feed across the goal mouth. Scanlon did the rest as she redirected the pass into the open net for her second score of the season.
Hall got in the scoring column, with her eighth goal of the season, when she sent a hard shot towards net that went off the Dean keeper and over the goal line for the 4-0 Regis lead.
Dean got on the board in the 78th minute after being awarded a penalty kick due to a handball in the box. Senior defender
Allie Bezio (Wellfleet, Mass.) stepped to the spot and converted for the first goal of her career.
