FRANKLIN, Mass. – October 14, 2023 – The Dean College women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Grant Field Saturday afternoon.
Dean (4-8-2, 3-7-2 GNAC) will play its final road game of the regular season on Wednesday at Rivier at 7 p.m. USJ (8-4-2, 8-2-2 GNAC) will continue a 3-game road trip on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. match at Emmanuel.
The visitors wasted no time to light the scoreboard with a goal from junior Kelsi Ursini (Groton, Conn.) less than two minutes into the contest.
The Blue Jays took a 2-0 lead in the 21st minute on sophomore Alana Picard's (Windsor Locks, Conn.) seventh tally of the season.
The lead went to three before halftime when Ursini set up teammate Elizabeth Garlock (Meriden, Conn.) for a score in the 32nd minute.
USJ added a fourth goal in the early stages of the second half off the foot of senior Jelly Frigo (Hartford, Conn.). Ursini was there once again to set up her teammate.

Haley Gaunt (Johnston, R.I.) took the loss with three goals allowed and seven saves in the first half. Sophomore
Lexi Gerow (Pownal, Vt.) finished the match with seven saves and one goal allowed. USJ keeper Madison Corcoran (Bristol, Conn.) was credited with the win with six saves in 78 minutes. Allison Drake (Plymouth, Conn.) worked the final 12 minutes, allowed one goal and made four stops.
