Bulldogs Fall at Albertus Magnus

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – January 21, 2023 – The Dean College women's basketball team fell at Albertus Magnus, 85-26, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup Saturday afternoon.

Dean (0-15, 0-10 GNAC) returns home to host Anna Maria on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. Albertus Magnus (15-1, 10-0 GNAC) remains atop the GNAC South and will play at Elms on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Sophomore Cat Thomas (Woodbridge, Conn.) and first-year Natasha Brito (Fitchburg, Mass.) had six points apiece to lead Dean. Thomas added six rebounds. Sophomore Amani Pressley (Long Island, N.Y.) finished with five points, six rebounds and three steals.

Sophomore Robin Selitte (Bridgeport, Conn.) led five Albertus Magnus players in double figures with 16 points. Junior Amanda Zdru (Stratford, Conn.) scored 15, while sophomore Diamond White (Hamden, Conn.) added 14. Jakara Murray-Leach (Norwalk, Conn.) registered 12 points, five rebounds, four assists, four steals and three blocks.
1st Quarter
  • Albertus Magnus led 25-4 after the first.
  • The home team shot 11-of-19, while Dean was 2-of-12 from the floor. 
  • White led the Falcons with 10 points.
  • Brito and Thomas each had a bucket for the Bulldogs.
2nd Quarter
  • The Falcons outscored Dean 18-8.
  • Thomas added another four points for Dean.
  • Each team had 20 rebounds in the first half. 
3rd Quarter
  • Albertus Magnus had a 20-10 advantage in scoring in the third.
  • Carly Rettberg, Tori Viau and Amani Pressley had three points apiece for Dean.
  • Murray-Leach had 10 for Albertus Magnus.
  • The Falcons made 10-of-20 shot attempts, while Dean went 3-of-10 from the field.
4th Quarter
  • Dean was outscored 22-4 in the final frame.  
  • Brito was responsible for Dean's four points.
  • Selitte put in 10 for the Falcons.
