FRANKLIN, Mass. – September 7, 2022 –The Dean College women's volleyball team fell to Curry, 3-0, in non-conference action Wednesday night inside Pieri Gymnasium. Curry won by scores of 25-21, 25-12 and 25-23.
Dean (1-3) will hit the road for the first time this season on Saturday with a tri-match at Massachusetts Maritime against the Buccaneers and Fisher. Curry (3-0) also plays a tri-match on Saturday at Fitchburg State against the Falcons and Nichols.
The Colonels were paced by senior Lauren Guzman (Cranston, R.I.) who tallied a match best 14 kills to go with 12 digs. Senior setter Brooke Reissfelder (Biddeford, Maine) finished with 27 assists and a match best 14 digs. Junior Haley Ferrara (Sandown, N.H.) chipped in with eight kills.

Emily Larouche (Agawam, Mass.) contributed a team best 12 digs to go with three aces and three kills.
The first set featured six ties, including as late as 15-15. Curry then used a 5-2 run to take a 20-17 advantage. Dean responded with a pair of points on two Colonel miscues to pull within one. The visitors ended the set on a 5-1 run, capped by a Leah Oscar-Phoenix (Westwood, Mass.) kill.
The Colonels carried the momentum into the second set and raced out to a 16-3 lead. Guzman had five kills in the frame as Curry cruised to a 25-12 win.
Curry earned the sweep by hanging on for a 25-23 victory in the third set. After the visitors scored the first four points, Dean answered with four of their own capped by a
Jordan Herivaux (Pawtucket, R.I.) kill. The play went back and forth with 10 ties and four lead changes. The Colonels held a 23-19 advantage before the Bulldogs rattled off three points. Curry went on to score two of the next three points to secure the 25-23 victory.
