Bulldogs Earn Split Home Tri-Match

FRANKLIN, Mass. – September 3, 2022 –The Dean College women's volleyball team hosted a tri-match with Framingham State and Lesley on Saturday inside Pieri Gymnasium.  

Dean (1-2) earned a split with a 3-0 loss to Framingham State before ending the afternoon with a 3-0 win over Lesley. The Bulldogs remain home on Wednesday to host Curry at 7 p.m.

Framingham State (3-0) swept both of its matches over Dean and Lesley. The Rams travel to Emmanuel on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. first serve.

Lesley (0-2) dropped both of its matches via a 3-0 score. The Lynx play at Nichols on Monday evening.

FRAMINGHAM STATE 3, DEAN 0 – 25-19, 25-16, 25-15

First-year Caitlin Cooper (Amherst, N.H.) led the Bulldogs with seven kills on .429 hitting. Junior Jenny Galley (Pembroke, Mass.) contributed six kills and 11 digs. Senior Mandi Payne (Millis, Mass.) also picked up 11 digs.

Framingham State was led by junior outside Anna Szymanski (Harwinton, Conn.). She hit .471 to finish with a match best 17 kills. Junior Hailey Sanders (Franklin, Mass.) registered 11 kills on .455 hitting and four block assists. Sophomore Malia Shields (Brockton, Mass.) tallied a match-high 12 digs.

FRAMINGHAM STATE 3, LESLEY 0 – 25-2, 25-2, 25-2

The Rams were strong at the service line collecting 36 aces in the match. Shields had a match best eight aces, while freshmen Carly Beaulieu (Sutton, Mass.) and Mya Jones (Scarborough, Maine) each finished with six aces. Szymanski recorded another six kills on .545 hitting.

Freshmen Emma Welch (Norton, Mass.) and Renee Hatch (Norway, Maine) each had four digs and a kill for the Lynx.

DEAN 3, LESLEY 0 – 25-7, 25-3, 25-1

Dean sophomore Lena Muraski (Manchester, Conn.) registered an impressive 20 service aces, including 12 in the final set. Junior Hope Laiter (Riverside, R.I.) had four kills on four attempts, while junior Theresa Dean (Lunenburg, Mass.) contributed three kills and an ace.

Welch and Hatch had a kill apiece for the Lynx. Julia Boudreau (Fitchburg, Mass.) was credited with both assists.
