FRANKLIN, Mass. – September 18, 2022 – The Dean College women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw with Rivier in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matinee Sunday morning.
The two teams played to a 0-0 double overtime result last season.
Dean (1-2-2, 0-1-1 GNAC) will play its first road game of the season on Wednesday with a 3 p.m. GNAC tilt at Colby-Sawyer. Rivier (0-3-1, 0-1-1 GNAC) travels to Johnson & Wales on Wednesday 7 p.m.
The first 45 minutes didn't yield too many scoring chances for each side. Rivier outshot the Bulldogs 10-4 with a 4-3 edge in shots on goal. Each team had three corner kicks in the first half.
There were 15 total shots in the second half, with each team getting a couple of dangerous scoring opportunities that were turned away by the opposing goalie.
Dean first-year
Lexi Gerow (Pownal, Vt.) made seven saves in her first career start in net for the Bulldogs. Rivier junior goalie Julia Cafferty (Tewksbury, Mass.) had five stops for the Raiders.
Rivier finished the contest with a 19-10 margin in shots (8-5 on target). Dean held a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.
