Men's Soccer Draws with Lasell, 3-3

NEWTON, Mass. – September 17, 2022 - The Dean College and Lasell University men's soccer teams played to a 3-3 draw, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Saturday afternoon.

Dean (3-1-1, 1-0-1 GNAC) hosts Regis on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Lasell (1-2-3, 0-0-3 GNAC) hosts Suffolk on Wednesday.

Lasell's Daniel Faynstein (Needham, Mass.) put the home team on top in the first four minutes of the contest.  

Dean found its stride towards the end of the first half and scored twice. Junior Reinorf Kusi (Malden, Mass.) finished a feed from first-year Melvin Alves (Brockton, Mass.) to tie the game in the 37th minute.

Less than three minutes later, Alves put the Bulldogs in front with his second tally of the season. Sophomore AJ Delgado (Acushnet, Mass.) was credited with the assist.

Early in the second half, Dean pushed its lead to 3-1 when junior Bryce King (Athol, Mass.) converted a pass from junior Sean Doherty (Chelmsford, Mass.).

The Lasers weren't done as Faynstein brought the team back. In the 66th minute, the Bulldogs were whistled for a foul in the box giving Lasell a penalty kick. Faynstein converted to bring the home team within a goal.

In the 77th minute, another costly challenge by a Dean defender resulted in one more penalty kick. Faynstein came through again for the Lasers with the equalizer.

Dean keeper Alberto Gonzalez Del Rio (Madrid, Spain) allowed three goals with no saves. Lasell goalie Cameron McDonough (Melrose, Mass.) allowed three goals and made five saves.

Each team finished with 12 shots with Dean holding an 8-3 margin in shots on target. The Bulldogs had a 5-0 discrepancy in corner kicks.
