FRANKLIN, Mass. - September 17, 2022 – Trailing 33-12 at the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Dean College football team made a furious comeback but came up just short in Saturday's 33-25 non-conference loss to Curry College (1-2).

Junior Dre Kidd (Manassas, Va.) registered two interceptions, including one at the 1-yard line, and seven tackles. Sophomore Kai Reeves (Boston, Mass.) led all players with 12 tackles, which included a sack.

Curry's offense was led by running back Montie Quinn (Goose Creek, S.C.). He posted 203 rushing yards and two scores. Justin Mullaney (Danvers, Mass.) went 14-of-21 through the air with 242 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Gabe DeSouza (Everett, Mass.) and Maxx Bell (Auburn, Maine) each had a receiving touchdown.

Sophomore Sproul Derolus (Stoughton, Mass.) finished with a team best 10 tackles, three sacks, three tackles for loss and forced a fumble. Junior Michael Sims (Baltic, Conn.) registered nine tackles, a sack and two tackles for loss.

Curry had the first two scores of the game with a 61-yard rush by Quinn and a DeSouza 27-yard connection from Mullaney. The Bulldogs answered with a Bullard's 94-yard return for a touchdown to make the score 13-6 after one.

Dean pulled within a point, 13-12, in the final seconds of the second frame on a 14-yard touchdown reception from Mooney.

The Colonels doubled their score in the third quarter with two touchdowns. Quinn had a 49-yard scamper and Bell hauled in a 41-yard catch and run from Mullaney.

The fourth quarter began with a QB keeper from Mullaney from five yards out to put Curry on top 33-12.

The Bulldogs showed fight and battled back for the remainder of the contest. Bullard rushed for a 4-yard score, five minutes into the frame. Dean then made the score 33-25 when McDermott found Reid for a 27-yard touchdown in the corner of the end zone. The Bulldogs got one final crack at it late in the quarter, but Curry held on for the 8-point victory.

Dean (0-4) hits the road next Saturday for a 1:15 p.m. start at MIT.
