Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Bulldogs Defeated by Mount Holyoke 3-0

FRANKLIN, Mass. – September 15, 2022 –The Dean College women's volleyball team dropped a non-conference match to Mount Holyoke, 3-0, Thursday evening inside Pieri Gymnasium. The Lyons won by scores of 25-9, 25-12 and 25-22.

Dean (2-6) travels to Colby-Sawyer for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest against the Chargers on Saturday. The Bulldogs will also play Fisher as part of the tri-match. Mount Holyoke (4-4) hosts MIT on Saturday at noon.

Dean senior Sari Albury (Nassau, Bahamas) turned in a spectacular performance with 11 kills on .667 hitting and three blocks. Senior Mandi Payne (Millis, Mass.) had a team best eight digs, while sophomore Lena Muraski (Manchester, Conn.) finished with seven assists.

First-year Elle Rimando (Mililani, Hawaii) also posted 11 kills to lead the Lyons. She hit .625 and added a block. First-year Sadie Duffrin (Minneapolis, Minn.) ran the offense with 20 assists. First-year Madeline Barton (Brookfield, Wisc.) contributed five kills and five aces. Sophomore Lucie Berclaz (Hull, Mass.) dug up a match-high nine balls.

The Bulldogs took a 6-2 lead to begin the match, on the strength of four Albury kills. Mount Holyoke responded with an 11-1 run, capped by a Rimando kill, to go in front 13-7. The Lyons then finished the set on a 12-2 run to cruise to the 25-9 victory. Rimando and Albury each had five kills in the frame.

In the second set, Mount Holyoke hit .304 and benefited from four aces to win 25-12. Rimando and Albury continued to go back and forth each adding four kills to their totals in the set.

Dean trailed 23-16 in the third set but did not give up. The home team rattled off six points in a row to force a timeout. Mount Holyoke settled down and scored the next two to secure the sweep.
