FRANKLIN, Mass. – September 10, 2022 - The Dean College men's soccer team scored twice in the first half en route to a 2-0 victory over Colby-Sawyer, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener for both teams.
Dean (3-1, 1-0 GNAC) travels to Lasell next Saturday for a 12 p.m. contest against the Lasers. Colby-Sawyer (1-2-1, 0-1 GNAC) returns home tomorrow to host Castleton at noon.
The Bulldogs broke through in the 18th minute when junior
Bryce King (Athol, Mass.) sent a nifty pass to freshman
Jake Richard (Townsend, Mass.) at the top of the box. Richard did the rest and put Dean on top 1-0 with his second tally of the season.
In the 27th minute, Colby-Sawyer was whistled for a foul in the box resulting in a penalty kick. Senior captain
Luke Palmer (Windsor Locks, Conn.) calmly stepped to the spot and beat the keeper for the 2-0 advantage.
Neither team found the back of the net in the second to end the game in favor of Dean, 2-0.

Alberto Gonzalez Del Rio (Madrid, Spain) improved to 2-0 with the clean sheet after making seven saves. Colby-Sawyer goalie Yener Bartolon (West Palm Beach, Fla.) took the loss with 11 saves.
The Bulldogs had a 20-11 margin in shots and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
