FRANKLIN, Mass. – April 8, 2022 – The Dean College baseball team dropped a non-conference game to Lesley, 15-6, on Friday afternoon at the Longley Athletic Complex.
Dean falls to 5-14 and is scheduled to resume Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Sunday at Norwich. Lesley improves to 11-14.
The Lynx opened the scoring in the second inning with seven runs. Sophomore Adam Budorick (Glenview, Ill.) had the big hit in the frame with a two-run double to right field.
Lesley added a run in the third on a sacrifice fly by freshman Ian Dempsey (Sarasota, Fla.).
Dean broke through in the fourth inning when freshman
Cam Watkins (East Haddam, Conn.) doubled in senior
Dan Lilja (Lynn, Mass.).
The visitors got the run back in the fifth on a bases loaded walk by Budorick.
Budorick knocked in his fourth run of the afternoon when he singled home freshman Colin McCarthy (Rehoboth, Mass.) in the seventh to give Lesley a 10-1 lead.
The Lynx tacked on five runs in the eighth to go in front 15-1. Dempsey had a bases clearing triple in the frame.
In the bottom of the ninth, senior
Matty Troy (Norwalk, Conn.) and sophomore
Kyle Simpson (Prospect, Conn.) each took a bases loaded walk before junior
Brian Dovidio (Ramsey, N.J.) knocked in a pair on a single to center to pull the Bulldogs within 15-5. A Lilja RBI fielder's choice made the score 15-6, but the next batter would be retired to end the game.
Lesley junior Dylan Langston (Chesapeake, Va.) earned the win on the mound after five innings of work. He allowed one run on four hits and struck out seven. Freshman Jacob Nemergut (Monroe, Conn.) threw three scoreless innings of one-hit relief.

DeMarcus King (Austin, Texas) tossed three innings out of the bullpen with two runs on one hit and two strikeouts. Freshman
Brady Coppa (Acushnet, Mass.) pitched a clean ninth with one strikeout.
Watkins finished 4-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI to lead the Dean hitters.
Dempsey knocked in a team best five runs for Lesley. Budorick went 2-for-5 with four RBIs and a run. Freshman Andrew Gryniewicz (Hollis, N.H.) was 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
