FRANKLIN, Mass. – April 5, 2022 - The Dean College women's lacrosse team dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest to Simmons, 20-8, Tuesday afternoon at Grant Field.
Dean falls to 3-7 overall and 3-5 in the GNAC standings. The Bulldogs continue a tough week with a 4 p.m. Saturday road game at undefeated Saint Joseph's. Simmons improves to 10-2 overall and 7-1 in the conference. The Sharks begin a three-game homestand on Saturday against Norwich at 1 p.m.

Nina Medeiros (Fairhaven, Mass.) led the Bulldogs attack with four goals. She added five ground balls and five caused turnovers. Junior

Natalie Peterson (Hudson, Mass.) contributed a goal and four draw controls, while junior
Jazzy Sztyler-Magee (Burlington, Conn.) also scored once.
Simmons sophomore Marita Nothacker (Philadelphia, Pa.) recorded 10 points on eight goals and two assists to go with 10 draw controls. Junior Emi Boedecker (Portland, Maine) tallied three goals, five draw controls and four ground balls. First-year Kat Wood (Chelmsford, Mass.) added a hat trick.

Jada Fields (Acushnet, Mass.) had nine saves in the loss. Senior Nicole Elliott (Wayne, N.J.) earned the win in 18:51 of work with two goals allowed and two saves. Senior Erin McIntyre (Cumberland, R.I.) made four saves and allowed two goals in 26:09, while junior Katie Castle (North Waterboro, Maine) played the final quarter and allowed four goals with two saves.
The Sharks scored the first seven goals of the game and never looked back. Dean got on the board at the end of the first on a goal from Sztyler-Magee to make the score 7-1 heading into the second.
The Bulldogs carried some momentum into the second frame with an early goal from Brown to cut the deficit to 7-2. After more than eight minutes of scoreless action, Simmons rattled off three goals in a span of 1:44 to take a 10-2 advantage. Each team would score in the final 40 seconds of the half to send the Sharks into the break with an 11-3 lead.
Simmons added to its lead in the third by outscoring Dean 6-1. Nothacker had three goals in the frame to give the Sharks a 17-4 lead after 45 minutes.
Dean cut into the Simmons lead by scoring four of the first five goals in the fourth, including three from Medeiros, to make the score 18-8. The Sharks tacked on a pair of late goals at 1:09 and :03 for the 20-8 final.
