FRANKLIN, Mass. – April 28, 2022 – The Dean College baseball team was fell to Western New England (WNE), 16-4, in a non-conference game Thursday afternoon at the Longley Athletic Complex.
Dean (7-26) will make up a game tomorrow night at Elms at 7 p.m. Western New England (16-13-1) plays a twin bill at Salve Regina on Saturday.
The Bulldogs struck first with three runs in their first at-bat. Freshman
Ryan Desmond (Long Island, N.Y.) brought in a pair with a single. Senior
Kyle Obst (Tewksbury, Mass.) then singled in another run to give Dean a 3-0 lead after one.
WNE tied the game in the third with a bases clearing double by first-year CJ Willis (Auburn, Mass.).
In the fifth, senior Ben Harrison (Newtown, Conn.) put the Golden Bears on top with a two-run double to left. Dean responded with a run in the bottom half with the second RBI single from Obst, to make the score 5-4.
The visitors went on to score three times in the sixth, seven in the seventh and one in the ninth to account for the 16-4 final.

Kyle Lancaster (Dartmouth, Mass.) had two hits apiece for Dean.
For WNE, Willis finished 3-for-6 with three RBIs and two runs. Leadoff hitter Cody Waterbury (Danbury, Conn.) set the table and went 3-for-4 with a walk, four runs scored and a couple of RBIs.
