FRANKLIN, Mass. - April 27, 2022 – The Dean College women's lacrosse team was defeated by Norwich, 21-9, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on senior day Wednesday afternoon at Grant Field.
Prior to the game, seniors
Haley Custodio (North Providence, R.I.) and
Jordyn McKenney (Nashua, N.H.) were recognized for their years of dedication to Dean College and the women's lacrosse program. The team also gave President Rooney a framed quote signed by the team for all that she has done for the College in her 27 years of service.
Dean falls to 5-10 overall and finishes 5-8 in conference play. The Bulldogs are scheduled to host Mitchell on Friday at 3:30 p.m. Norwich improves to 12-4 overall and 10-3 in the GNAC standings. The Cadets will host a GNAC quarterfinal game on Saturday.

Maire Brown (Huntington, N.Y.) led Dean with four goals and 10 draw controls. Junior
Jazzy Sztyler-Magee (Burlington, Conn.) notched a hat trick. First-year
Nina Medeiros (Fairhaven, Mass.) scored a goal, picked up five ground balls and added six draw controls.
Michaila Furchak (Nyack, N.Y.) had six points on three goals and three assists to lead a balanced Norwich attack. Valentina Drown (Acton, Maine) added a goal and four assists, while Emma O'Neill (Hamburg, N.Y.) scored four times to go with an assist.
Junior
Jada Fields (Acushnet, Mass.) finished with eight saves for the Bulldogs. Norwich keeper Katie Bishop-Manning (New York, N.Y.) had 20 saves in the win.
Norwich scored a pair in the opening 1:30 before Dean responded to tie the game in the next three minutes. The Cadets scored the final three goals of the quarter to lead 5-2 after 15 minutes.
The teams traded the first four goals of the second quarter before a Medeiros goal pulled the Bulldogs back within a pair at 7-5. Norwich finished the frame on a 4-0 run with goal from four different players to lead 11-5 at the half.
In the third, the Cadets pushed their lead to 13-5 with a couple of goals in the opening minutes of the quarter. Dean scored three of the next four to claw back, but Norwich once again finished the quarter strong with three goals to take a 17-8 advantage into the fourth.
The visitors had a 4-1 edge in scoring in the fourth to secure the 21-9 victory.
