MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - March 8, 2022 - The Dean College baseball team continued its spring break trip in South Carolina at the Ripken Experience. The Bulldogs played a pair of 7-inning games against Cairn. Cairn took game one 5-4 in walk-off fashion and game two 13-0.
Dean will play a doubleheader against York College on Wednesday.
GAME ONE - Cairn 5, Dean 4
Dan Lilja scored on a wild pitch to put Dean on top 1-0 in the first.
Cairn got single runs in the second and third on a Tyler Fox RBI single and a Brian Amantia RBI triple to take a 2-1 lead after three frames.
Lilja scored Dean's second run on a
Brian Dovidio groundout in the fourth.
The Highlanders increased their lead to 4-2 in the bottom half of the fourth on a wild pitch and a Jake Arnoldy RBI double.
Dean benefited from a pair of wild pitches leading to runs to tie the game in the fifth.
In the bottom of the seventh, Cairn's Joe Greenwood knocked in Dylan Fields for the walk-off victory.
Bryan Stimpson got the win with 2.1 scoreless, one-hit innings with four strikeouts.
Tyler Fleet suffered the loss for Dean. He tossed 2.2 innings, gave up one run on two hits and struck out a pair.
GAME TWO - Cairn 13, Dean 0
The Highlanders scored in six of the seven innings and belted 11 hits to score 13 runs.
Brayden McLaughlin and
Owen Liscio recorded the two hits for Dean.
