CARY, N.C. – March 7, 2022 – The Dean College baseball team concluded a series with William Peace at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina on Monday with a 9-inning game. William Peace came away with the 14-6 victory.
Dean (0-4) will continue south to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to play six more games during its spring break trip. The Bulldogs play two against Cairn tomorrow at 4 p.m. William Peace improved to 8-4.
William Peace opened the scoring with a pair in the first and one in the third before Dean broke through with a run in the top of the third.
The Pacers took an 8-1 lead in the fourth and added another run in the fifth. Dean battled back with five runs in the seventh to pull within 9-6, but William Peace responded with five of their own in the bottom of the inning to go in front 14-6, which would be the final score.
Dean freshman
Ryan Desmond (Long Island, N.Y.) recorded his first collegiate hit and finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run. Sophomore
Owen Liscio (Norwalk, Conn.) went 3-for-4 with two runs. Freshmen
Seth Cruz (East Freetown, Mass.) and
James Galati (Eastchester, N.Y.) also picked up their first collegiate hit.
Senior Patrick Rogan (Norfolk, Va.) led the Pacers with four hits in five at-bats. Sophomore Jake Dacunto (Raleigh, N.C.) knocked in a game best four runs on two hits. Junior Cole Robbins (Mooresville, N.C.) and sophomore Nick Tyler (Zebulon, N.C.) had three hits apiece.

Kyle Simpson (Prospect, Conn.) took the loss for Dean with 5 IP, 11 H, 9 ER. Junior Philip Berger (Hillsborough, N.C.) earned the win for the Pacers after 6 IP, 8 H, 6 R (4 ER).
