NEWTON, Mass. - March 27, 2022 - The Dean College men's volleyball team dropped both ends of Sunday's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match hosted by Lasell. Dean fell to the Lasers 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-13) and Rivier 3-0 (25-7, 25-14, 25-16).
Dean (1-19, 0-12 GNAC) will play its final regular season home match on Tuesday against nationally ranked Wentworth at 7 p.m. Lasell improved to 16-7 overall and 10-2 in the GNAC. Rivier goes to 12-7 overall and 9-1 in the conference.
Lasell 3, Dean 0 - 25-15, 25-16, 25-13
The Lasers hit .300 and registered 31 kills.
Freshman
Rodrigo Monteiro (Praia, Cape Verde) led Dean with four kills and eight digs. Junior
Nicholas Carlson (Warwick, R.I.) and senior
Traijan Powell (Sierra Vista, Ariz.) recorded three kills apiece. Powell hit .500 and added seven digs.
Lasell received 10 kills on .438 hitting from Riley Grenier. David Massa added six kills on 15 attempts with no errors.
RIvier 3, Dean 0 - 25-7, 25-14, 25-16
Rivier registered 34 kills on .407 hitting to earn the 3-0 sweep. The Raiders were led by Ryan Peace who posted eight kills on .889 hitting. Thomas Miller also tallied eight kills.
Junior
Jake Kelley (Westminster, Mass.) and Powell each had three kills to lead Dean. Junior
Diego Harrington (North Kingstown, R.I.) picked up a couple of service aces.
