NEW HAVEN, Conn. - March 22, 2022 - The Dean College women's lacrosse team came back from a 9-4 deficit to defeat Albertus Magnus, 14-11, for the program's first-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory. The win also marked the first for head coach
Ashley Magruda-Wood.
Dean goes to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the GNAC. The Bulldogs will look to win two in a row on Saturday with a 3 p.m. home game against Anna Maria. Albertus Magnus drops to 1-4 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Nina Medeiros (Fairhaven, Mass.) and junior
Maire Brown (Huntington, N.Y.) each scored four goals for the Bulldogs. Junior
Allie Bezio (Wellfleet, Mass.) chipped in with game-highs of four ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Albertus Magnus was led by Katherine Raposo's six goals. Mariah Mandulak added a pair of goals, while Alexandra Barrett contributed one goal, two assists and four ground balls.

Jada Fields (Acushnet, Mass.) earned her first victory in net by making seven saves. Chloe Oliver kept the Falcons close in the second half and finished the game with 24 saves in the loss.
The home team opened the game with three consecutive goals and led 5-2 after 15 minutes of action.
The teams traded the first four goals of the second quarter. The Falcons then scored twice in a row to give them their largest lead of 9-4.
Natalie Peterson scored for the Bulldogs with less than 30 seconds to play in the half to pull Dean within 9-5 at the break.
Dean carried the momentum of the final goal of the first half into the third quarter by scoring six unanswered goals, including three by Peterson and two by Brown, to take an 11-9 lead. The Falcons just beat the buzzer with a goal by Barrett to make the score 11-10 in favor of Dean after three quarters.
The Falcons knotted the score at 11-11 with a goal by free-position goal from Raposo, 2:19 into the fourth.
Dean took a 12-11 lead, two minutes later, on Peterson's fourth tally of the game and never looked back. The Bulldogs added goals from Medeiros and Brown to secure the team's first win of the season, 14-11.
