BOSTON, Mass. - March 17, 2022 - The Dean College men's volleyball team continued its busy week with a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match at Emmanuel Thursday evening. Emmanuel came away with a 3-0 win by scores of 25-10, 25-19 and 25-20.
Dean (1-13, 0-6 GNAC) will conclude its tough week by traveling to ninth-ranked Wentworth for a Saturday tri-match with the Leopards and Elms. Emmanuel (11-7, 4-2 GNAC) plays a Saturday tri-match at Rivier with Lasell.
The Bulldogs were led by sophomore
Aaron Fonseca (Cranston, R.I.) and first-year
Rodrigo Monteiro (Praia, Cape Verde) with five kills apiece. Senior
Traijan Powell (Sierra Vista, Ariz.) and junior
Tyler Martins (East Providence, R.I.) each chipped in with three kills.
Saints first-year Jyles Amirault (Andover, Mass.) finished with match-highs of 11 kills and 11 digs, claiming his second career double-double. First-year Maximilian Olsen (Barnstable, Mass.) added seven kills with a .500 attack percentage while classmate Louis Da Silva (New Bedford, Mass.) finished with five kills.
Emmanuel posted a convincing 25-10 first-set victory before things tightened up in the second and third. The Bulldogs put pressure on the Saints but the home team was able to hold on for a pair of close 25-19 and 25-20 wins to secure the 3-0 sweep.
