BOSTON, Mass. - March 19, 2022 - The Dean College men's volleyball team played a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matches at No. 9 Wentworth. The Bulldogs fell to the Leopards 3-0 (25-13, 25-11, 25-7) and Elms 3-0 (25-7, 25-8, 25-8).
The Bulldogs (1-15, 0-8 GNAC) return home on Tuesday to host Emmanuel at 6 p.m. Wentworth improves to 17-4 overall and 8-1 in the GNAC standings. Elms improves to 8-11 overal land 4-5 in the conference.Â
Wentworth 3, Dean 0 - 25-13, 25-11, 25-7
The ninth-ranked Leopards hit .367 for the match and posted 33 kills.Â
Junior
Nicholas Carlson (Warwick, R.I.), senior
Traijan Powell (Sierra Vista, Ariz.) and sophomore
Aaron Fonseca (Cranston, R.I.) had two kills apiece for the Bulldogs. Junior
Tyler Martins (East Providence, R.I.) finished with five assists and three aces.
Wentworth was paced by Dave Arellanes' nine kills on .583 hitting. Sam Etter hit .538 for eight kills, while Drew Potter added seven kills and eight aces.Â
Elms 3, Dean 0 - 25-7, 25-8, 25-8
Elms registered 40 kills on .507 hitting en route to the 3-0 sweep. The Blazers were led by Pedro De Jesus who hit .591 with 13 kills. Â
Aaron Fonseca recorded three kills to lead the Dean attack. Powell added a couple of kills, while Martins and Carlson dug up four balls each. Freshman
Joseph Medeiros led the team with six digs.Â
