ALBANY, N.Y. - February 19, 2022 - The Dean College men's volleyball team dropped a close 3-0 match to Sage on Saturday afternoon. The Gators came away with the win by scores of 25-22, 26-24 and 25-10.
Dean (0-8) will resume competition at home on March 2 against Lesley at 6 p.m. Sage (4-9) travels to Drew on Tuesday.Â

Rodrigo Monteiro (Praia, Cape Verde) led Dean with seven kills. JuniorÂ
Tyler Martins (East Providence, R.I.) recorded 14 assists, six digs and three aces. Sophomore
Christian Sayue (Providence, R.I.) led the team with eight digs to go with three kills.Â
Deshawn Fleary and Elijah Tortorici had nine kills apiece to lead Sage. Camden Knight had a match-high 11 digs, while Ryan Jennings guided the attack with 29 assists.Â
The Bulldogs were trailing 22-13 in the first set before chipping away at the deficit. Dean came back to make the score 24-22 after a pair of Martins aces, but Sage closed the set on the next serve to win 25-22.Â
In the second, Dean held a 20-15 lead after an
Aaron Fonseca kill. Sage responded with a 7-2 run to tie the score at 22-22. The score would be tied again at 24-24 before the Gators benefited from a couple of Dean attack errors to win the set 26-24 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.Â
After squeaking out the first two sets, Sage began the third on a 9-3 run to force a Dean timeout. The Bulldogs tried to claw back by Sage would secure the match by winning the set, 25-10.
