FRANKLIN, Mass. – February 18, 2022 – The Dean College men's volleyball team fell to visiting King's College of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., 3-0, Friday evening in Pieri Gymnasium. The Monarchs won by scores of 25-13, 25-8 and 25-15.
Dean (0-7) travels to Sage tomorrow for a 5 p.m. first serve. King's (10-2) will remain in the state to play a tri-match at Regis with Emerson tomorrow at 1 p.m.
Sophomore
Aaron Fonseca (Cranston, R.I.) had a team best three kills for Dean. Freshman
Rodrigo Monteiro (Praia, Cape Verde) collected a team-high six digs to go with two kills and a couple of blocks. Junior
Tyler Martins (East Providence, R.I.) finished with six assists, four digs, two kills and a block.
King's was led by sophomore Nick Greenwalt's (Bethlehem, Pa.) nine kills. Sophomore Jared Piontkowski (Nanticoke, Pa.) was next on the team with seven kills to go with five total blocks. Junior libero (Sellersville, Pa.) picked up a match best 13 digs, while junior setter Aziz Atiyeh (Whitehall, Pa.) finished with 20 assists.
King's hit .333 as a team, including an impressive .478 in the second set. The Monarchs also benefited from 15 aces.
