FRANKLIN, Mass. – February 16, 2022 – The Dean College men's volleyball team was defeated by Rivier University, 3-0, in the program's first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match. The Raiders won by scores of 25-7, 25-13 and 25-15.
Dean (0-6, 0-1 GNAC) welcomes King's on Friday evening for a 7 p.m. first serve. Rivier improves to 2-6 overall and 2-1 in conference action. The Raiders travel to Endicott tomorrow night for a 7 p.m. match with the Gulls.
Junior
Tyler Martins (East Providence, R.I.) tallied four assists, three digs and a couple of aces. Freshman
Rodrigo Monteiro (Praia, Cape Verde) had two kills, two digs and two blocks. Sophomore
Aaron Fonseca (Cranston, R.I.) chipped in with two kills and three digs.
Sophomore Ethan Soltis (Massilon, Ohio) led the Rivier attack with eight kills on .385 hitting. He added 12 assists, four aces and four blocks. Sophomore Ryan Peace (Goffstown, N.H.) hit an impressive .875 to finish with seven kills on eight attempts. Sophomore Neil Rea (Windham, N.H.) posted 18 assists and seven kills, while junior Thomas Miller (Clifton Park, N.Y.) contributed six kills and eight aces.
The Raiders registered nine kills and five aces to take the first set 25-7.
In the second set, the visitors hit .429 as a team and recorded 13 kills, led by Miller who had four. Martins had his two aces in the set to help Dean score 13 points.
Peace notched four of the Raiders' 12 kills in the third set on their way to the 25-15 victory.
