NORTHFIELD, Vt. - February 12, 2022 - The Dean College men's basketball team was edged by Norwich, 83-73, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game Saturday afternoon.
Dean (7-15, 2-13 GNAC) returns home on Tuesday to host Albertus Magnus at 7:30 p.m. Norwich (12-10, 7-7 GNAC) hosts Rivier on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Junior
Hunter Meyer (Taylor Mill, Ky.) led the Bulldogs with a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Senior
Winston Bryan (Greensboro, N.C.) finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. Junior
Mark Blair (Rosedale, N.Y.) was the third Dean player in double figures with 10 points.
Norwich's Donovan Lewis Jr. was 14-19 from the floor to lead all scorers with 28 points. Kohlby Murray added 19 points on 7-11 shooting, including 5-9 from beyond the arc. Jalen Olivero chipped in with 10 points off the bench.
Dean held a 39-38 lead at the half. Bryan led all players with 10 points in the first 20 minutes. The Bulldogs were 5-10 from three-point range in the frame.
Lewis Jr. took over for Norwich in the second half, scoring 20 points on 10-13 shooting. Murray also turned it on with 11 of his 19 points in the second. The Cadets were 51.4% from the floor, while the three-ball dried up for the Bulldogs as they shot just 1-of-9 from beyond the arc. Meyer tried to keep Dean close with eight points and eight rebounds in the second.
The Bulldogs were on top 68-64 with 5:05 left to play, but Norwich finished the game on a 19-5 run.
