PROVIDENCE, R.I. – October 22, 2022 - The Dean College men's soccer team was shutout by the Johnson & Wales Wildcats, 3-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats improved to 12-2-3 overall and 9-0-2 in the GNAC. Dean fell to 4-7-4 overall and 2-6-3 in conference action. The Bulldogs return home on Wednesday to host Saint Joseph's in a regular season finale.

Graduate student Ricky Africo notched the only goal of the first half in the 18th minute to send the Wildcats to halftime with a 1-0 lead.

Austin Sweeney doubled the JWU lead, less than three minutes into the second half, when he finished a pass from senior Garrett Groeling. Africo tacked on an insurance goal by converting a penalty kick inthe 59th minute. 

Dean first-year goalie Jake Godwin (Norwalk, Conn.) allowed three goals and made four saves in 65 minutes of action. Junior Alberto Gonzalez Del Rio (Madrid, Spain) worked the final 25 minutes and did not allow a goal or make a save. Senior Jacob Friedman recorded one save to earn the win for JWU.
