BOSTON, Mass. - October 18, 2022 - The Dean College men's soccer team tied Emmanuel, 2-2, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest at Clemente Field under the lights Tuesday evening.
Dean (4-6-4, 2-5-3 GNAC) travels to Johnson & Wales on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. match with the Wildcats. Emmanuel (5-4-6, 3-3-4 GNAC) hosts Elms on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Emmanuel took a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute after Dean was whistled for a foul in the box, resulting in a penalty shot. Pedro Andres-Vasquez stepped to the spot and ripped a shot to the left. Dean answered five minutes into the second half on a penalty shot of their own. Junior
Sean Doherty (Chelmsford, Mass.) converted the try for his first goal of the season.
The Bulldogs went in front 2-1 in the 75th minute when junior
Reinorf Kusi (Malden, Mass.) volleyed a cross from freshman
Jake Richard (Townsend, Mass.) into the right side of the net.
The Saints knotted the score at 2-2 with less than four minutes to play in the match. Richie Hickson found Renato Martinez in close who potted his second goal of the year.
First-year goalie
Jake Godwin (Norwalk, Conn.) finished with four saves for Dean, while Vincent Conelli had three stops for the Saints.
In an evenly matched contest, Emmanuel held a slim 12-10 edge in shots (6-5 on goal), while each team registered four corners.
