FRANKLIN, Mass. – October 11, 2022 – The Dean College field hockey team dropped a 3-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest to Albertus Magnus on Tuesday afternoon at Grant Field.
Dean (0-12, 0-7 GNAC) hosts Rivier on Sunday during homecoming weekend. The team will honor its seniors prior to the scheduled start time of 11 a.m. Albertus Magnus (1-9, 1-6 GNAC) returns home to host Anna Maria on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
The visitors opened the scoring at 5:47 when sophomore Alexis Duranleau (Wheelock, Vt.) finished a pass from senior Ariana Martin (Hamden, Conn.).
Albertus Magnus doubled its lead less than three minutes later. Senior Lillian Woods (New London, N.H.) was credited with the goal from a crowd in front of the goal.
Duranleau and Martin connected once more in the second quarter on a similar looking play. Martin drove down the right side and ripped a pass across the goal mouth. Duranleau got her stick on the ball to record her team leading third goal of the season.
The Bulldogs responded 31 second later to cut the deficit to 3-1. A penalty corner led to the scoring chance and first-year
Sydnee Ramos (New Bedford, Mass.) took advantage. Ramos stepped around a Falcon defender and sent the ball into the back of the cage, halfway up, for her second goal of the season.
Neither team got on the scoreboard in the second half to end the contest with the 3-1 score in favor of Albertus Magnus.
Dean junior goalie
Mackenzie Fillion (New Bedford, Mass.) made three stops for the Bulldogs. Albertus Magnus junior goalie Serena Montague (Englishtown, N.J.) allowed one goal and made one save to earn her first victory of the season.
Albertus Magnus held a 12-7 advantage in shots (6-2 on target), while Dean had a 4-3 edge in penalty corners.
