Field Hockey Falls to Colby-Sawyer

FRANKLIN, Mass. – September 21, 2021– The Dean College field hockey team fell to Colby-Sawyer, 7-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Friday afternoon at Grant Field.

Dean (0-7, 0-3 GNAC) hits the road next Saturday with an 11 a.m. GNAC contest at Albertus Magnus. Colby-Sawyer (6-1, 3-0 GNAC) begins a three game home stand on Wednesday against Simmons at 3:30 p.m.

The Chargers received goals from seven players in the game. Colby-Sawyer scored twice in the first, three times in the second and twice in the third.

Dean played hard throughout and held the Chargers without a shot in the fourth quarter.

Graduate student Julia Lanctot (Sandown, N.H.), senior Whitney O'Brien (Mont Vernon, N.H.) and junior Bella Silva (Danvers, Mass.) each had a goal and an assist to lead Colby-Sawyer.

Dean sophomore goalie Mackenzie Fillion (New Bedford, Mass.) finished with three saves in the first half, while sophomore Gabbie Taynor (Newburyport, Mass.) stopped five shots in the final two quarters. First-year Caitlin Mateus (Westport, Mass.) also chipped in with her first defensive save of the season. 

Senior Julia Carr (York, Maine) earned the win for the Chargers.
