NEW HAVEN, Conn. - October 2, 2021 – The Dean College field hockey team picked up their first win of the season with a 3-2 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory at Albertus Magnus on Saturday.

Dean goes to 1-7 overall and 1-3 in the GNAC. The Bulldogs travel to the University of Saint Joseph on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. game with the Blue Jays. Albertus Magnus drops to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in conference play. The Falcons have a quick turnaround and will also play at the University of Saint Joseph. Their game takes place on Monday at 3:30 p.m.

After a scoreless first quarter, the teams combined for three goals in the second frame. The home team got on the board first with a goal by Alexis Duranleau, 7:26 into the quarter. Five minutes later, Dean senior Kat Conforti (Warwick, R.I.) tied the game with her first goal of the season. Albertus Magnus took a 2-1 lead into the halftime break when Duranleau finished a pass from Danielle Brodman with 1:31 left on the clock.

Junior Maire Brown (Huntington, N.Y.) brought the Bulldogs even for the second time with her first tally of the season, 3:18 into the third quarter. Less than six minutes later, Brown set up senior teammate Jordyn McKenney (Nashua, N.H.) with a scoring chance. McKenney did the rest as she found the back of the cage with her first collegiate goal and eventual game-winner.

Dean sophomore goalie Mackenzie Fillion (New Bedford, Mass.) earned the win for the Bulldogs with four saves. Mikayla Lyston finished with 13 saves for the Falcons.

Dean outshot Albertus Magnus 21-6 and had a 16-6 advantage in penalty corners.
