BANGOR, Maine – September 17, 2021– The Dean College football team was defeated by Husson, 42-14, under the lights Friday evening.
Dean dips to 1-2 and will return home next Saturday to host MIT at noon during Homecoming Weekend. Husson improves to 2-1 and will host Springfield next Saturday.
Dean quarterback David Curry (Bethlehem, Ga.) was 18-37 for 249 yards and two picks. He led the Bulldog rushing attack with 26 yards and a touchdown. Quintus Reid (New Haven, Conn.) hauled in six catches for 108 yards to lead the receiving core. Errol Breaux (Baton Rouge, La.) chipped in with 83 receiving yards on four catches and 10 yards on the ground with a touchdown.
Husson racked up 321 rushing yards on the night and was led by Garrett Poussard's 134 yards and three touchdowns. Shawn Noel Jr. added 133 yards on 23 rushes. Eagles quarterback Nic Visser posted 232 yards on 15-25 passing and three scores. Jon Bell caught two TD passes and went for 108 receiving yards.
Dean junior Tyzohn Poole (New Haven, Conn.) led the defense with nine tackles, while sophomore Keontay Maxwell (Orlando, Fla.) finished with eight tackles and a pair of pass break-ups.
Husson took the opening drive all the way down the field and was capped by a Poussard 9-yard touchdown run.
Later in the first, Bell caught a crossing route and did the rest, taking the ball 80 yards to the endzone.
Seconds into the second, Dean cut the deficit in half with a QB keeper by Curry from the 1-yardline.
The Eagles responded, less than three minutes later, when Visser hooked up with Wenston Dinizio for an 8-yard TD to put the home team on top 21-7.
With 1:09 left to play in the half, Poussard found the endzone from five yards to give the Eagles a 28-7 advantage at the break.
Poussard got the scoring going in the third with his third rushing TD of the night, this time from three yards out.
The Bulldogs came away with their second 1-yard touchdown run of the night to pull within 35-14. Errol Breaux took the handoff and beat the defense to the endzone for his seventh touchdown of the season.
In the fourth, Visser and Bell connected one more time with a 2-yard pass and catch to account for the 42-14 final score.
Dean sophomore kicker Mason Dill (Carrolton, Ga.) made both of his PATs, while Aaron Paradis went 6-6 for Husson.
