NEWTON, Mass. - October 9, 2021 - The Dean College field hockey team fell at Lasell, 5-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game on Saturday.
Lasell improves to 6-6 overall and 5-1 in the conference. The Lasers travel to Simmons on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. contest with the Sharks. Dean drops to 1-9 overall and 1-5 in the GNAC. The Bulldogs will return home after their three game road trip to host Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
The home team took six shots in the first quarter and received a goal from Sheriden Blaha to take a 1-0 lead into the second.
The Lasers added nine shots in the second quarter. With 1:05 left to play in the half, Johanna Snyder gave Lasell a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
Blaha and Lily Stark each scored in the opening three minutes of the second half to give Lasell a 4-0 advantage. The Dean defense held the Lasers to one shot for the remaining seven minutes of the quarter.
Lasell tacked on a fifth goal in the fourth quarter from Lisa Ortiz to account for the 5-0 score.
