FRANKLIN, Mass. – October 13, 2021 – The Dean College field hockey team was defeated by Saint Joseph's, 10-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game Wednesday afternoon at Grant Field.
Dean (1-10, 1-6 GNAC) travels to newest GNAC member Elms on Saturday for a 5 p.m. contest with the Blazers. Saint Joseph's (11-2, 7-0 GNAC) remains atop the conference standings and will travel to Albertus Magnus on Saturday for an 11 a.m. game against the Falcons.
The Monks scored three times in the first quarter and five times in the second to lead 8-0 at the half.
The Dean defense held Saint Joseph's off the scoreboard in the third and to three shots.
The Monks added two goals in the fourth to account for the 10-0 victory.
Junior Megan Quirion (Oakland, Maine) led the Monks offense with a hat trick. First-year Abbie Jacques (Mount Vernon, Maine) tallied two goals and an assist, while senior Emma Rutledge (Alfred, Maine) added a goal and two assists.
