WESTON, Mass. – October 16, 2021 - The Dean College men's soccer team dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) road match at Regis, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon.
Dean falls to 3-10 overall and 2-7 in the GNAC. The Bulldogs return home on Wednesday to host Johnson & Wales at 3 p.m. Regis improves to 6-5-1 overall and 4-4-1 in conference play. The Pride steps out of conference to host Emerson on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
The Pride scored twice in the opening eight minutes and never looked back. Junior Santiago Pedraza Novak (Bogota, Colombia) got the scoring started at 4:13 when he raced away from the Dean defenders to beat the goalie into the far right side of the net from a tough angle on the left side of the box.
Less than three minutes later, the Pride strung together a couple of passes leading to a goal scoring chance by junior Zack Acciardo (Derry, N.H.). Sophomore Jacob Freitas (Dracut, Mass.) had the initial flick with his head that was then volleyed backwards by Pedraza Novak to the feet of Acciardo.
Dean senior goalkeeper
Bryce Antoch (Cranston, R.I.) finished with seven saves. Senior Freddie Beckmann (Franklin, Mass.) made five saves to preserve the clean sheet for Regis.
Dean had a 16-14 advantage in shots and a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
