THE LEAD:
Jessey Asare
led a Kean University rushing attack that ran for almost 250 yards and the visiting Cougars topped Dean College, 47-13, in non-league football action in front of nearly 2,000 people at Dale Lippert Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Kean wasted little time marching down the field on their opening drive and wildcat quarterback Tyrae Taylor finished off the six-play, 69-yard drive with a three-yard scoring run.

Taylor put the Cougars on the board again when he capped an eight-play drive with his second score of the day – this time from eight yards out.

Kean was on the board again just a few minutes later when quarterback Anthony Broccoletti connected with Myles Toppin from 41 yards out to give the visitors a commanding, 21-0 edge.

That lead grew to 28-0 when Dimere Kyles scooped up one of three Bulldog fumbles and raced 35 yards to the endzone.

The Cougars scored once more before halftime when Aubyn Bryan collected a tipped ball and got behind the defense for a 44 yard touchdown grab.

Dean did get on the board before the half ended when Terrell Watts (New Haven, Conn.) found Errol Breaux (Marietta, Ga.) from five yards out – a drive that was aided by a 45-yard catch and run from Julian Burris (Rock Hill, S.C.).

Kean scored on a Logan Matthews field goal and an Asare 26-yard jaunt into the endzone, making the score 44-6 before Watts connected with Burris on a 63-yard deep ball down the middle for the final Dean score. The Cougars went on to add another Matthews field goal to close out the scoring.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Asare accounted for 145 yards on just 17 carries for Kean, who also got 70 yards and two touchdowns on the ground from Taylor.

For the Cardinal and White, Burris was named the Thomas "Butchie" Williams '75 Homecoming Game MVP after his five catch, 142-yard performance.

Watts was 17-for-30 for 210 yards and two scores, while Quintus Reid (New Haven, Conn.) had a game-high seven catches.

Defensively for Dean, Wadell Alceus (Apopka, Fla.) had a monster game, finishing with ten tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.

Nicholaus Grimaldi (Valrico, Fla.) had ten tackles himself, while Amheir Funderburke () ended with eight tackles and Tyzohn Poole (New Haven, Conn.) recorded seven tackles and a sack.

Dean is off until Saturday, October 12 when they open ECFC play with a home contest again league preseason favorite, Maritime.
