THE LEAD:
Led by a dominating defensive performance, Dean College scored the game's final 21 points enroute to a 28-10 triumph over SUNY-Maritime in Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) action on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldog defense registered a school-record ten sacks, held the visiting Privateers to under 250 yards of total offense and just 86 yards passing.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After Maritime took a 3-0 lead in the second quarter, Dean used a 45-yard kickoff return from Julian Burris (Rock Hill, S.C.) to go 34 yards in six plays, capped by a Terrell Watts (New Haven, Conn.) one-yard plunge to give the Bulldogs a 7-3 edge.

The Privateers best drive of the day came next when Robert Wheeler engineered a seven-play, 56-yard drive that he finished with a one-yard run of his own to send the visitors into the locker room in front, 10-7.

Dean came out of halftime and immediately marched into the endzone with a five-yard burst up the middle from Errol Breaux (Marietta, Ga.).

On the next drive, the Bulldogs went 72 yards, highlighted by a pair of big receptions from Quintus Reid (New Haven, Conn.) and then Ki'sean Bullard (Miami, Fla.) went the final 18 yards on a pass from Watts to give Dean a 21-10 advantage.

The Bulldogs final score came after Watts connected with Kameron Phuong (Covington, Ga.) for a 60-yard reception up the left sideline and then found Breaux in the right corner of the endzone from five yards out.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Several of Dean's defensive stars had stellar performance, including freshman Desmond Dias (Rochester, Mass.), who totaled 11 tackles and a sack. Tyzohn Poole (New Haven, Conn.) ended with 11 tackles as well, including three sacks while Wadell Alceus (Apopka, Fla.) racked up ten stops and 1.5 sacks.

Watts was extremely efficient for the Bulldogs, going 12-for-17 for 211 yards and two touchdowns, while Breaux scored a pair of touchdowns for Dean.
