THE LEAD:

Gallaudet scored a single touchdown in each quarter and the host Bison used a methodical rushing attack to hand Dean College a 28-7 loss in Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) football action on Saturday at Hotchkiss Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Gallaudet known for its triple option run based offense, actually got on the board via the air on its first two scoring possessions.

After the teams traded empty possessions, the Bison needed just two plays to go 45 yards to punch in the first score on a 20-yard strike from Timel Benton to Darrion Green.

The Cardinal and White responded on their ensuing possession when Richard Harris (Uniondale, N.Y.) ripped off a 55-yard run on third down and then Kordell Scott (Orlando, Fla.) followed with a nine-yard keeper into the endzone, evening the score.

Later in the half, Gallaudet embarked on their first of three clock-killing drives – this one a 14-play, 73-yard sojourn that gobbled up nearly eight minutes off the clock and was capped by a Benton-to-Dylan Mento nine-yard scoring pass.

The Bison took the ball early in the third quarter and went on their second extended drive that ended with another score. This 12-play, 63-yard march featured a pair of third down conversions and the two-yard touchdown plunge by Cody Paulay-Simmons on fourth down.

Dean had its best drive of the second half late in the third quarter when they put nine plays together highlighted by a 39-yard pass from Scott to Dequan Brown (Newark, N.J.) on third down that set up the Bulldogs at the Bison two-yard line.

A fumble, a penalty and a sack forced the Bulldogs out of the red zone and the drive stalled out ending in a punt.

Gallaudet took over at their own 14-yard line and milked nearly nine minutes off the clock, running on 13 straight plays and converting a pair of third downs.

When it looked as if they might kick a field goal from the Dean five-yard line, they had their holder Joell Dixon sprint to the far right pylon, outracing the Bulldog defense for the game's final score.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Buoyed by his 55-yard run, Harris finished with his third career 100-yard rushing performance.

Scott, showed he has the ability to move the ball with his arm, throwing for 150 yards but he did have two interceptions. Brown, meanwhile, had a career-best 67 yards receiving.

Defensively for Dean, Ricco Aaron (Douglasville, Ga.) and Trent Waters (Knoxville, Tenn.) each totaled nine tackles, half a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss, while both Justice Taylor (Cromwell, Conn.) and Mujahid Camel (East Orange, N.J.) ended with eight stops each.

Gallaudet rushed the ball 63 times for 248 yards as they used ten different ball carriers – nine of whom ran for ten yards or more as they had nearly 40 minutes of ball possession (38:01).

UP NEXT:
Dean returns to action on Saturday, November 4 when they play host to SUNY-Maritime in their final home contest of the 2017 season.
