Steve Schairer is entering his fifth season as a Volunteer Assistant with the Men's Lacrosse program. He officially returned to the program in 2022 after serving as Head Coach for several seasons.

During his tenure as Head Coach, Coach Schairer led the Bulldogs to several titles, including a Patriot League title in 1988, Pioneer League titles in 1995, 1996, and 1997, and Region XXI titles in 1998, 1999, 2001, and 2004. Schairer also aided in the efforts of growing college lacrosse in New England. During his tenure, Dean would play several, current NCAA Division I institutions, including Boston College, Northearn University, and UCONN.

Aside from his time coaching, Schairer's main responsibilities lied at King Philip High School, located 15 minutes from Dean's campus. He served as KP's Athletic Director for multiple decades, overseeing countless MIAA state tournament appearances and championships. He also oversaw the renovations to the former Rice Sports Complex, upgrading playing facilities for all KP-sanctioned sports.

Along with being the AD, Schairer was the boy's lacrosse coach, turning around the program and eventually eclipsing 200 career wins as coach.

In 2017, Schairer retired from full-time work. He now enjoys spending time with his family and playing in his band, "The Father and Sons Band."
