FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Dean College women's soccer team was defeated by Rhode Island College on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 5-1. With the loss, the Bulldogs dropped to 0-2-1 on the year, while the Anchormen improved to 2-0-0.
How it Happened:
-Rhode Island College struck first in the 14th minute. Caitlyn Terceiro scored off an assist from Amber Almeida to give the hosts an early 1-0 advantage.
-The Bulldogs continued to battle defensively, but Rhode Island College added another goal early in the second half when Isabella DiGioia found the back of the net to make the score 2-0.
-Dean answered in the 55th minute and showed their resilience. Lilly Giovannucci (Wenham, Mass.) converted a penalty kick for her first goal of the season, cutting the Bulldogs' deficit to 2-1.
-The goal briefly gave Dean momentum, but Rhode Island College responded just minutes later. Terceiro scored her second goal of the match to restore a two-goal advantage.
-Terceiro completed her hat trick in the 70th minute, converting a penalty kick to extend the Rhode Island College lead to 4-1.
-The Bulldogs continued to compete through the final whistle, with Danielle Reinhard (Las Vegas, Nev.) making several key stops despite facing sustained offensive pressure from the host
-Rhode Island College added its final goal in the 87th minute, with Katelyn Damiano scoring off assists from Ally Luna and Brooklyn Marinelli to account for the 5-1 final.
