NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Dean College men's golf team secured their first win of the season on Wednesday, defeating both Nichols College and Mitchell at the Mitchell College Invite. With the victory, the Bulldogs secure their first match win since October of 2023.
How it Happened:
-The Bulldogs shot 314 as a team, including three players who shot under 80 after 18 holes. Nichols finished in second place with 319, and Mitchell closed the field with a score of 358.
-First-year
Irven Carnes (Bolton, Mass.) led the team with a 77 (+6). This included an impressive score of 37 on the front nine holes.
-First-year Anthony Cermele (Eastchester, N.Y.) also impressed in his collegiate debut, shooting +7 on the afternoon (78).
-Returners
Case LaChance (Latham, N.Y.) and
Troy Evans (Valrico, Fla.) had strong performances in their return to play, shooting a 79 (+8) and 80 (+9), respectively.
-Freshman
Ethan Heuer (Athol, Mass.) rounded the field with an 83 (+12), including a 38 on the front nine holes.
