FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Dean College women's lacrosse team secured their third Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Albertus Magnus College by a final score of 13-10 with the Dean, Dean improves to 3-9 overall (3-6 GNAC), while the Falcons dropped to 4-8 (1-7 GNAC).
How it Happened:
-Dean opened with a trio of goals to start the first quarter.
Emma Mock (Tunkhannock, Pa.) scored the first tally, followed by goals from freshman
Ali Murphy (Middleboro, Mass.) and
Bella McQuade (North Attleboro, Mass.). With just over seven minutes remaining in the frame, it was already 3-0 in favor of the Bulldogs.
-Albertus struck back in the latter minutes of the quarter, getting a pair of scores from Tiffany Ly and Alexis Signor. Dean now held a one goal advantage at the end of the frame.
-Delaney Schlechtweg took over at the start of the second, scoring twice to give the Falcons their first lead (4-3). However, the lead didn't last long. McQuade scored a man-up goal, tying it at four.
-Shortly after McQuade, Murphy potted another unassisted goal, putting Dean back in front 5-4.
-Albertus scored two more times in the latter moments to take a 6-5 lead going into halftime.
-The Bulldogs pounced on the Falcons at the start of the second half, scoring three unanswered goals. McQuade and Mock each scored another, followed by the first collegiate goal from
Amelia French (Longmeadow, Mass.). Dean found themselves returning to the lead, 8-6.
-After Montano netted another for Albertus, Murphy and
Allie Stockwell (Burrillville, R.I.) scored two more Dean goals to give them a 10-7 lead going into the final frame.
-
Caroline Ramsey (Shreveport, La.) led the scoring in the fourth quarter, scoring a pair of goals to help the Bulldogs increase their insurance. McQuade also added her fourth score of the afternoon.
-Dean held off the Falcons to take the 13-10 final victory.
