GAME ONE: Emmanuel College 6, Dean College 3
-The Saints put together the largest-scoring inning of the series in the bottom of the first. They scored five runs off Dean starter
Bryce DeGasparre (Attleboro, Mass.) to take a large advantage in the early going.
-They struck again in the next inning, securing an RBI double from Sydney Taylor. It was now 4-0 after two innings.
-The Bulldogs found their answer in the top of the third. With bases loaded,
Emily Kilpatrick (Marion, Mass.) laced a single towards first base. After a throwing error by Emely Rodriguez,
Maddy Barrette (Hope Valley, R.I.) came around third to score.
-Shortly after,
Nina Ostafin (West Hartford, Conn.) punched an RBI double into the left-center gap, scoring two runs. Dean now trailed by just three heading into the bottom half.
-However, their offense was stymied throughout the final four innings. They had just one hit combined, ultimately putting them short of the Saints in game one. Emmanuel took it by a final score of 6-3.
GAME TWO: Emmanuel College 7, Dean College 3
-Emmanuel quickly struck first in the bottom of the opening frame. Garon, Taylor, and Weineck all reached base with two combined RBIs. The Saints led 3-0 in the early going.
-Garon struck again in the second inning, lacing an RBI double into left field to increase the margin to 4-0.
-The Bulldogs only saw two baserunners through the first four innings, both of which by walk. Emmanuel starter Carmen Crockett kept them at bay, retiring the other 16 batters.
-The Saints added extra insurance over the course of the third and fourth innings to make it 7-0.
-Dean finally found the box score in the top of the fifth inning.
Xandra Silva (New Britain, Conn.) smacked an RBI single up the middle, allowing
Leah Chamberlain (Burlington, Vt.) to score. Dean now trailed by six.
-The Bulldogs continued their efforts in the sixth inning. They scored a pair of runs off RBI doubles from Chamberlain and Ostafin. This cut the deficit to four.
-However, Crockett and the Saints held off the attack in the final frame, taking the 7-3 final score in game two.
