Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Grabs 10th Win of Season Against Blazers, 71-55

Franklin, Ma. - The Dean College men's basketball team strolled into their tenth win of the season on Wednesday evening, defeating Elms College by a final score of 71-55. With the win, Dean improves to 10-3 overall, while the Blazers drop to 6-7.

How it Happened:
-The Bulldogs opened the game's scoring with consecutive layups from Christian Yeates (Atlanta, Ga.) and Randy Rasquez (Methuen, Mass.). Vasquez also solidified the early statement for Dean, slamming a dunk on a fast-break effort.
-The Blazers, though, would keep the score close through the opening minutes of the half. In the fifth minute, RJ Mayfield secured a basket underneath the glass, eventually giving Elms the 11-10 advantage.
-For the next ten minutes, Elms would control the pace of play. They also saw a lead as high as five points in that span (17-12, 10:46 remaining).
-However, it was at this point that Dean began to mount their comeback. Layups from Xavier Boyd (Loganville, Ga.) and Izayah Porter (Jonesboro, Ga.) began the effort. This was shortly followed by a strong jump shot by Naser Motley (Everett, Wash.).
-Vasquez continued his dominance in the first half, grabbing another physical layup to tie the game at 22. Dean would eventually take the lead on a free-throw conversion from Boyd.
-Elms' first half lead would be the only lead they saw in the game. Dean never looked back after re-capturing its advantage, going into the locker room with the 37-33 score.
-The Bulldogs dominated in the second half, outscoring the Blazers 34-22. Xavier Rubio (San Diego, Calif.) led the way with 11 points and converted on 50 percent of his three-point shots.
-In a half which Dean saw several leads over double digits, the Bulldogs would cruise to victory. They took the game by a final score of 71-55.
